Four Die On Highways
Four people died in separate highway accidents. John Pittsenberger of Wichita and his wife were en route to Emporia when a sideswipe near Strong City sent them into a ditch. Pittsenberger, 40, died, his wife and the other car occupants were unhurt. Carl G. William Reddell was struck and killed by a newspaper truck on U S 54 near Wichita. Mrs Willis Koch, 44, Turon, Kas, died in a Pratt area two car crash while returning home from visiting her newborn granddaughter. Stanley Adee, 24, died when a truck fell into a ravine 18 miles southeast of Belleville.

In Kansas City AP report, rookie Patrolman Thomas Cook Jr. 23 revived 14 month old Marsha Matthews by mouth-to-mouth resuscitation after convulsions. She was taken to a hospital. Matthews family previously lost a 5 month old daughter to convulsions in 1956.

Driver Falls Asleep Driver In Ditch On Shaw Road
Richard Fehr of 821 S Malcolm told police his 1954 Buick left the road on Shaw road about 1 30 a m after he slept at the wheel. The Buick sustained front fender and rear damage. Earlier Saturday two accidents near Main and Lincoln and at 109 W Main involved Larry Cleaver and B E Barkley and Charles Wayne Ebert and Roy Phebus with damage to multiple doors fenders and a backed vehicle. Cleaver cited for failing to yield the right of way with a $10 bond.

Heart Attack Fatal To Kansas Motorist
Chester A. Hemphill a 55 year old Lawrence Kansas man died of a heart attack while en route to Texas on Oklahoma Turnpike. His wife Mrs Hemphill took the wheel after he fell ill and they stopped at Stroud gate for help. An attendant drove them to a hospital and a physician pronounced him dead on arrival. The couple resided at 1741 Kentucky Street in Lawrence.

Roberta Baugh found the right front wheel hubcap and tire stolen from her car parked downtown after her shift. Floyd Arnold reported two hubcaps missing from his car and a grinder-like device used in the theft. Charles Sweeney said two hubcaps were taken from his car, with only lug nuts left.
