Jane Wells daughter of Charles and Mrs Wells of Chattanooga Tennessee recently won an all expense trip to the National Science Fair in Cleveland Ohio as the high school science teacher of the sweepstakes prize winner at a Chattanooga science fair. It marks her second such trip after coaching another sweepstakes winner last year. Her grandparents are Mrs Melva Russum and Mrs Jessie Osburn.

Two Young Men Survive Car Overturn Near Chanute

City Dads Introduce Armory Bond By City Commission
The Kin ans National Guard armory bond issue of 550 000 was approved by voters at the April 5 city election as Chanute's share for construction and site. State and federal funds will provide about 140 000. The ordinance may pass at the next regular meeting. The board also changed meeting times to 7 30 Thursdays and discussed sewer and paving projects. Parking meters may be installed on North Grant after requests from local business owners. Also considered were leasing the municipal pool and engineering for the 1 200 000 electric plant expansion. The meeting opened with a Nazarene pastor’s invocation and adjourned to 7 p m Thursday.

Self Service Buys Buildings For Expansion

Joseph John Brummel, 28, of near Garnett, was killed while operating a bulldozer on a road construction project southwest of Emporia. He was pulling trees from a creek channel when the tractor slipped over a creek bank. He fell 15 feet and was crushed by the machine.
