Tornado Strikes Rural Area Near Kincaid Kansas

A tornado caused several thousand dollars in damage near Kincaid in a rural area Friday night. Sheriff Lawrence Amer reported one farm house destroyed and two others badly damaged, with seven or eight barns and several outbuildings demolished and trees and power lines blown down. no injuries. A second storm at Forbes Air Force Base caused roof damage to an enlisted men's barracks with no injuries.

FAA Plane Crashes Kill Three Instructors Near Mustang Oklahoma

A twin engine C47 from the FAA aeronautical center in Oklahoma City crashed near Mustang killing three flight instructors. Victims were Donald E. Harper 37 Norman Oklahoma Thomas E. Donnelly Kansas City Missouri and Robert A. Cole Denver Colorado. Officials could not determine who was at the controls or cause of the crash.

Injuries Fatal For Topeka Man In El Dorado Area Crash

EL DORADO AP Lloyd C Vaughn 59 of Topeka died Friday night from injuries after a two car crash 14 miles north of El Dorado. Evelyn M Lindley 24 of Hill City driver in the other car was injured as the vehicles collided at an intersection.

Lightning struck the two story eight room home of Wayne and Mrs. Harding early this morning, igniting the kitchen and forcing the family to flee in nightwear. Stark Fire Department could not save the house but kept flames from spreading to nearby buildings. The family, newly moved in, were later visiting relatives as the loss, partly insured, was assessed.

Cars Damaged In Accident Involving Two Teens

Gary Taylor 15 of 1920 S Central and Larrie Miley 16 of 1007 W Main were in a collision near Main and Malcolm at about 10 45 last night. Miley struck Taylor from behind while turning onto Main. Neosho County to Open Bids for 332 Miles of Sealing Work

Bids will be opened May 11 at 9 am in the 4th Highway Division Engineer's office for resurfacing 332 miles of Neosho County highways under the annual maintenance program. Projects include bituminous sealing on K39 US59 through Stark Erie Chanute and areas near the Neosho Crawford line, with several long segments and an 84 mile emulsion asphalt sealing south from the Neosho Allen line.

Four classes for training as nurses aides begin this week to address local shortages. At Neosho Memorial Hospital 20 students enroll for hospital aide training and 28 enroll in nursing home programs at Bryant's Rest Home and Neosho Manor. Tornadoes, High Winds Hit Eastern Kansas Overnight

In Topeka and eastern Kansas a line of strong winds and heavy rain caused damage. Tornado near Kincaid Selma traced a four mile path, Forbes AFB suffered roof and window damage, hail fell across eastern Kansas with brief heavy rains. Several towns reported one inch plus rainfall including Cherryvale 1.92 inches.
