A Wichita bomb scare was revealed as a Civil Defense mock alert heard on a radio broadcast. The fake attack warned of 162000 deaths in Wichita, but Tribune staff explained no bulletin existed and the alert was part of a drill. Chanute hammers toward a mineral society convention in Wichita April 24 to 26 with exhibits at the National Guard armory.
