Temporary Plus Benefits If Jobless Pay Ended

A small earthquake startled Norton residents at 3 16 p m Thursday with buildings shaken and a sound like an explosion heard by some. At Dry Creek school 12 miles north teacher Mrs Alvin Brown said pupils were frightened. University of Kansas geophysicist J A Peoples Jr noted the quake on a seismograph and called it unusual for Kansas. He estimated a quakes last about five years earlier, around 1955 or 1956.
