A district court awarded $7,500 to Donald E. Webber as administrator of the estate of Harry W. Redden of Pittsburg against George L. Fager of rural St. Paul. The auto accident that killed Redden occurred near St. Paul on Oct. 9, 1955. Jury trial was waived and the defense presented no evidence.

In Wichita the missing family of aircraft worker Edward W Johnson has been found safe at the Collingswood New Jersey home of his parents. Ed Nelms sheriff's juvenile officer reported today that Johnson told investigators his wife and two teenage children disappeared from their Wichita home on the night of March 30 while he was at work.
Mrs. Lillie Washabaugh of Natoma, 35, publisher, will become the first woman state printer on June 30 as Gov. George Docking announces appointment to succeed Ford Voi land who resigns to join private business. Washabaugh opposed Vei land in the campaign and aims to run the printing plant efficiently. she owns Natoma Publishing Co. with the Natoma-Luray Independent and Farm Viewer publications.

Urbana officials report the fourth class Urbana post office will be discontinued and postmaster Mrs Bessie Bercaw separated from her position effective May 3. A protest petition to Congressman Myron George is circulating. Mail will be routed via a rural route from Earlton. Urbana’s post office dates to May 2 1870.

The House Appropriations Committee approved an extra 41 million dollars for the Post Office Department to prevent prolonged mail curtailment. The 37 to 10 vote raises the year’s postal funds to 2 165 billion for the fiscal year ending June 30, with two and a half months of use. Summerfield said the cutbacks would persist unless the bill passes and is signed by President Eisenhower.
Glen E. Wang, 26, of Ensign, died from injuries in a car wreck west of Dodge City on U S 56. Officers said the car left the road and overturned during the incident.

In San Gabriel California a 15 foot hole remains in the Murphy back yard after Army Ordnance crews dug for two days seeking an unknown object. An earlier sonic boom prompted the search triggered by Pat Murphy’s discovery of a two foot hole. Demolition teams removed patio items and will fill the hole as restoration proceeds.
Mrs. Bessie Anderson, 53, of Arkansas City Kansas, died when a car and a station wagon collided on a sleet slick highway near Stillwater Oklahoma.

Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad head William N. Deramus III urged staff to secure more business to keep Katy alive amid drastic cuts and office consolidations. He cited 2,200 layoffs since January 8 and dismantled operations across St. Louis Parsons and Texas, warning of a slow death without support.
Mrs. Gerald Dunwoody of Lola was shaken up and bruised when her 1955 DeSoto overturned east of Chanute on Highway K39 six miles east after midnight. The couple, traveling west, escaped with injuries as the car landed on its top. John Knight reported and transported them to Chanute.
