Saigon reports a sharp rise in ground actions across Vietnam with 315 Communists killed in the last 24 hours. B52 bombers staged from Guam to Thailand dropped 180000 pounds on a camp near Saigon as more bombers move to Utapao Thailand.
The Pentagon issued the largest draft call of the year, seeking 19,800 inductions in June for the Army. Through six months, 1967 totals average 14,600 monthly, with projections to about 120,000 for the next half year, and continued one year Vietnam assignments.
Kansas traffic death log shows 117 fatalities in April through 9 am Monday, 1967, compared with 158 in the same period in 1966 and 0 in the latest 48 hour window. The AP report lists totals for Topeka and surrounding areas.
President Johnson flies to Punta del Este Uruguay for a 19 nation hemispheric summit to discuss development plans and a potential Latin American common market for 1970 to 1985. He plans to listen and seek $1.5 billion more in five years, despite Senate resistance.

Three persons were killed in traffic accidents in Kansas over the weekend. Charles Coleman, 31, of Newton and Steven Neil Harlan, 21, of Sedgwick died in a collision on U S 81 north of Wichita when one car forced the other off the road. Elzie E. Gordon, 55, of Washington, Kansas, died when his car struck a bridge on U S 36 west of Washington and burned.
Gov. Robert Docking said he is not optimistic the legislature will pass a highway program before adjournment. He favored a $300 million bond plan for three turnpikes but noted it faced opposition and legislative revisions. He also discussed highway department reforms and education budget appeal changes.

Mrs D L Geeding 819 S Santa Fe was elected president of Region 9 Auxiliary of the Veterans of World War I Barracks at the state convention in Salina. Region 9 covers Colorado Kansas New Mexico Utah and Wyoming. Beulah Stewart was reelected state treasurer. Attending from here were Mrs Joe Rensing state color bearer and others including Mr Rensing Messrs and Mesdames William Cline Roscoe Offenbacker C J Anderson Esker Galbraith Fred Heinze Luke Lasley and John Thielen.
A tentative settlement to end a 13 day radio and television performers strike was reached early today but pickets remained outside network skyscrapers. AFTRA must vote on terms, which were not disclosed, while ABC pushed toward telecast readiness for the Academy Awards in Hollywood.
Three people sustained minor injuries in a two car collision at 18th and Santa Fe around 2 p.m. Saturday. Randy Frazier seven of 112 South Lafayette Rev Don Zimmerlee evangelist from Missouri and Kay Miller thirteen of Humboldt were injured. Karen Miller eighteen was cited for an improper turn. Police and highway patrol investigated the crash.
