In Garden City Kansas AP reports the condemned killers of four Herbert Clutter family members lost another round in their five year fight to avoid execution. Dist Judge Alex Hotchkiss denied a motion to set aside convictions and death sentences for Richard Eugene Hickok and Perry Edward Smith. An appeal to the state Supreme Court was granted by the judge and will be heard in Topeka later today.

Corn Truck Overturns Spilling Shell Corn Near Chanute
A semitruck hauling 700 bushels of shell corn overturned seven miles east of Chanute on highway K39 at 4 45 a m. Driver Eldred Mayo 29 of Parsons was treated and released for minor injuries after his vehicle slid 375 feet onto the shoulder and struck a field entrance.
