Stolen 1955 Ford From Tabor Motor Co Lot
A light blue 1955 Ford sedan with Kansas dealer plate D-53-D was stolen from the Tabor Motor Co lot at Elm and Evergreen after break in across the street. The thief took keys from a cigar box and items include a check protector three small screwdrivers and about $1 in change. Police report entry through a broken window. parts room also entered but the safe remained undisturbed.

A fire destroyed the Lueck Grain Co elevator in Netawaka Kansas with about 22 000 bushels of grain lost. Owner Henry Lueck who also served as First District Democratic chairman reported the wooden and metal structure burned but rain and snow helped limit spread. Loss estimated at 60 000 dollars with partial insurance coverage.

Vessels Race To Aid Sailor In Bering Sea
In a tense mercy mission in the ice filled Bering Sea the US Coast Guard cutter Storis and the Soviet tug Bditelnyg race toward Akun Bay near Dutch Harbor to aid an injured Soviet seaman. The Storis radioed the Soviet trawler Pischavaya Industrial that the man had been transferred to the tug but Navy interpreter Lt Cmdr Kosnik later heard the trawler saying the seaman was unconscious with a possible brain injury and no broken bones.
