Chehalis gears up for a three day July Fourth event with a large parade and cash prizes for decorated autos, floats, and notable contestants. The program includes State League baseball games, a balloon ascension, foot races, a big dance at the Glide theatre, and various features to surpass last year’s Centralia celebration.

Stephen Stan a Russian Cossack and Siberian native traveled through Centralia on foot as part of a world tour. A man identified as Lane faced charges for allegedly taking money from a cash register after being left in charge by the owner Cuttera of the Olympic Cafe in Ohe halis.
