At a Commercial Club meeting Theodore Hosa questioned why Chehalis gains more road work. He noted Chehalis will have over three miles of hard surface east of the city while the county road west of Centralia shows only its first benefit from road tax funds. Plans were discussed to address state funding disparities.
A disastrous blaze at Lindsey and Hawkins saloon Napa wine district started about 2 AM. The fire wiped out an entire business block including a restaurant hotel barber shop butcher store hardware warehouse residence and two fraternal halls. Loss estimated at 56000 with Marshall and Burnham the heaviest losers. The origin remains unknown. About 200 residents aided in extinguishing the fire after hours of effort.
Strawberries eight to eight and a half inches in circumference were sent from Seminary Hill by M A Poyns. They were Sharpless and grown without irrigation, largest yet shown though not perfectly uniform or best flavored. Rivalry grows with Waunch Prairie and Fords Prairie berry raisers as W H Edwards of Fords Prairie brings fourteen berries. D Wiler of Fords Prairie offers Saunders berries in quart boxes, non irrigated and beauties. Frank Ipe of Forde Prairie submits Marshall variety, fifteen berries per quart, also irrigated by drought avoidance. Ipe planted 4,000 plants and sold 43,090 runners to neighbors, with 6,000 used by himself.
William Scales sold his cash grocery in Centralia to Charles Willian and Jay Agnew. Scales, oldest grocer in the city, had operated there for ten years and was known for the slogan Scales Is Right. The sale occurred around June 15.
Sheriff Bolschweiler said the Perth Amboy situation is under control after riots at the American Smelting & Refining plant. One man is dead and ten injured in last night’s clash between police and striking workers.
United Press dispatch from Chicago reports that the national committee seated eight Taft delegates at large and Taft delegates from Texas districts one two four five seven and eight despite Roosevelt's objections. Roosevelt’s side won the first Texas seat from district three.
Centralia took a fast game from Aberdeen yesterday afternoon by a score of 4 to 8. Callahan worked well for Centralia, holding Aberdeen to eight scattered hits, while Gleason and Hollis supplied key moments. The post office change begins July 1 as Little Falls becomes an international money order office.

A long running dispute between the Northern Pacific and Winlock over railroad width is resolved. Federal grant secures 200 feet wide right of way. Winlock residents had encroached to 50 feet west and 70 feet east. Agreement gives NP a 100 foot strip, leaving a 20 foot eastern street and requiring residents to fund sidewalks on their side.
A visit by C. M. P. S. official Westerveld to Tenino fuels strong rumor Milwaukee seeks best line to reach Tenino. Reports say C. M. P. S. and O. W. R. N. plan connections at Tenino from Offuts Lake and Sg.
United Press reports the marriage of Lord Northland, heir to Hart and Ranfurly, to Miss Hilda Cooper at St Margaret's Westminster. The ceremony drew vast attention from London society, with police restricting crowds as June weddings surge. A New York bride also looms in Anglo American nuptials planned for June 17 between Dorothy Taylor and Chude Grahame-White at Widford and a reception at Flylands.

Three men met in Chehalis yesterday with combined ages totaling 258 years. T. W. Newland of Chehalis is 84, James T. Phillips of Forost 87, and John T. Browning of Adna 87. Newland came to the state in 1853, Phillips in 1850, Browning in 1860. The pioneers are hale and hearty and enjoy recounting old times and changes.
The Commercial Club endorsed city paving of Main Street from the Centralia hotel to the Skookumchuck bridge. A petition for paving circulated, with remonstrance signatures likely similar in number. Officials said paving would proceed if a majority of property owners favored it, with an estimated cost of about $3.50 per front foot for a 30-foot street and consideration of additional streets for paving.
The case of Sete va CC. Ailliner was to be heard this term but settled outside court. Su lmer, resident of Morton, faced assault charges linked to a child born to Polly Clevenger of Morton. Months earlier, Sulton left Lewis reality and was arrested within 24 hours.
