Anton Stockton estimated to be over one hundred years old, leader of a Siwash mail canoe crew long ago, traveled to Chehalis with several tribe members and his much younger wife. He lives on a Toledo ranch and remains blithe of heart despite senile paralysis and aging.
A noted young man from Che- Banis faces trouble after a clerical error led to a forged check. His identity is withheld to protect relatives and allow a chance at reform. The offense involved cashing a discarded check from his employer and spending the proceeds. Authorities have not yet decided whether charges will be filed.
Chehalis youngsters spent a gala day in the snow yesterday, sledding on improvised coasters and dodging snowballs before school. A heating problem forced classes to be canceled as plumbers and gas fitters worked to fix the issue, leaving many happy, rosy faces in Chehalis.

United Press report from Balm dated January 17 states the senate endorsed Senator Miller's joint resolution for electing U.S. senators by direct vote of the people. The resolution urges Congress to submit a constitutional amendment to the states for ratification.
