Otisville Girls Surprise Party At Highland Ave Home

Miss Josephine Corwin received a surprise party Tuesday night at her Highland avenue home with games and dancing followed by refreshments. Attendees included Rose Carpenter Vera Gardner Middletown and many others. visitors from Middletown and Yonkers were noted along with several local residents. Royal Neighbors held a meeting at Mitchell Hall with three new members initiated and refreshments served afterward.

Electric line rearrangement due to new dam near Washingtonville

The Central Hudson system reroutes lines to bypass flooded areas north of the power plant. Workers set 64 new poles 125 feet apart and string 8 000 pounds of wire for the Central Hudson circuit and 6 590 pounds for the Washingtonville circuit. The project moves the plant 2 miles closer to Washingtonville, improving voltage in Washingtonville and Salisbury Mills. A new lake connection is under way with a 400 foot long dike 12 feet high and a 3 500 yard earthwork phase. New street light controls are installed for better regulation during dark mornings and evenings.

McCoach rounds out 25 years on police force today

Chief John D. McCoach marks twenty six years of service today after joining as constable in 1902. He rose from patrolman to chief and has handled notable cases including the Olney murder. He is a Sullivan county native, married with a family, and previously worked at the State hospital.

Army Baseball Opens Spring Training at West Point

West Point N Y Mar 10 Army began its baseball training with over sixty men reporting to Head Coach Harry Moose McCormick. Practice used the riding hall as snow covers the Plains diamond and focused on warmups and battery work. Promising battery men scarce McCormick aims to build depth with players like Coffin, Carns, Harding and Carmichael among catchers and Stevenson, Stribling, Timberlake, Easton, Beauchamp and Kunzig on the mound.
