Presidents to Dedicate Clock Tower in Cedar Rapids
Czech President Petr Pavel and Slovak President Peter Pellegrini will join dignitaries for the dedication of the National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library Clock Tower in Cedar Rapids. A recreated 1995 photo on the terrace at 11:45 a.m. will include Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds amid the ceremony events for the Buresh Migration Clock Tower dedication today.

Cedar Rapids wastewater plant upgrades begin in November
A $348 million Cedar Rapids project to modernize the Water Pollution Control Facility will break ground in November funded largely by the State Revolving Fund and federal dollars under the infrastructure law. Bruno Pigott of the EPA announced the plan at a city celebration. Roy Hesemann said the new tech will perform well with no expected changes for customers.

Iowa immigration law injunction faces federal appeal
A federal 8th Circuit panel heard arguments in St. Louis over Iowa Senate File 2340. The halted law would let state authorities arrest and remove migrants previously denied entry. DOJ and civil rights groups call it unconstitutional for trampling federal sovereignty and creating chaos in immigration policy. Governors Reynolds and Bird defend it as mirroring federal law not currently enforced. The district court blocked the law July 1 pending resolution.
