Iowa Water and Land Legacy amendment faces study and support
Proponents led by conservation groups push Iowa's Water and Land Legacy measure to create a constitutionally protected trust fund funded by a portion of the next sales tax. It would direct about 150 million dollars annually to habitat, soil conservation, trails, and water quality. Critics from the Farm Bureau oppose the trust mechanism but expect farmers to back soil protection.
