Bank Siege Foiled by Police Siege at Cleveland Bank

A bank robbery plot in Cleveland ended in a 45 minute siege. The bandit died, apparently by suicide, after police used tear gas. manager Herbert Fox and staff were held, Fox’s daughter Marilyn aided in escaping. An employee was seriously wounded. The bandit used a bomb hoax with coal dust and a ticking clock.

Pittsburgh AP reports Robert Barney Baker, 44, of St Louis, a Hoffa associate, indicted by a federal grand jury for Taft-Hartley Act violation. He allegedly received 525 dollars from a distributing firm. Baker's father in law is Jake More, former Iowa Democratic central chairman.

A 21 month old girl in Carrollton Ohio was located safe Wednesday after wandering alone for 16 hours in rugged country. Authorities say she was unharmed and had been missing since the previous day.

Four teen aged Des Moines girls slipped past Fort Des Moines security to reach Premier Khrushchev on the eleventh floor. Officers escorted them away as Khrushchev greeted the group with a smile. The incident occurred as Khrushchev arrived in Des Moines with his wife and daughters briefly left outside the plant before being admitted.
