Northeast Iowa towns wary of Chicago led religious group
In Bellevue and McGregor Iowa residents watch for Illinois plates as a Chicago based group The Love Holy Trinity Blessed Mission expands in their area. Local editor says the group is secretive and may resemble a cult while Archbishop Hanus bans its meetings and literature in archdiocese parishes citing concerns for families and communities.

The
U S toll in Iraq reaches 1907 in latest loss
Twelve Americans were killed in Iraq pushing the AP count to 1,907. Among the dead were a Diplomatic Security agent and three private guards in Mosul. The tally includes soldiers from the 18th Military Police Brigade and Marines from the 2nd Marine Division amid multiple roadside bombings near Ramadi and north of Baghdad.

New Specialty License Plates Feature Wildlife Art
Two new Iowa specialty license plates, one with a pheasant and one with an eagle, go on sale at county treasurer offices to support state natural resources programs. Wildlife artist Greg Bordignon of Robins created the artwork and attended a Des Moines unveiling with his wife Bernie, after donating the designs to the DNR.
