Kness Seeks Release From Linn Jail
Donald Kness of Cedar Rapids filed a habeas corpus petition in Linn district court seeking release from Linn County jail on grounds of illegal confinement. The 36 year old is held on a murder charge linked to the Jan. 10 shooting death of David J. Pettit at a Hiawatha tavern. He faces sentencing Oct. 15 if he does not withdraw his tentative guilty plea.

County to Buy 53 Guns for Sheriff Department
