Flippin for the Symphony Pancake Breakfast Opens Week

The Cedar Rapids Symphony Women’s Committee kicks off a week of events with a pancake breakfast featuring Cathy Prenosil and Ben Campbell. Other activities include an open orchestra rehearsal, a luncheon and style show, and a concert preview at the Paramount. Luncheon tickets are available by calling Jone Anderson.

Illness Hits Mt. Everest Climbers

Mt Everest expedition member Arlene Blum of Menlo Park California is ill at Camp Two 21,000 feet and descending to base camp. CBS crew member Peter White also fell ill at Camp One 19,400 feet en route to base. Fellow climber Nanda Devi Unsoeld from Olympia Washington died last week from acute high altitude sickness on the Himalayan peak 440 miles northwest of Everest.
