Nursing home faces fines after patient falls
In Woodward an Iowa nursing home, USA Healthcare Center, faces fines of 100 dollars per day since August 8 for a June incident where a patient using a wheelchair fell from a mechanical lift about four feet high, sustaining a fractured right hip and leg. Administrator Kathleen Woolcott could not be reached for comment.

Arson Suspected in Ames July Fire and Suspect's Death
Investigators say a July 25 Ames house fire was arson and caused about 100000 in damage to a 322500 valued residence. The suspected arsonist, Shekhar Parulekar, 2507 Ridgetop Road, Ames, died by his own action in Salem South Dakota the night of the blaze. lab tests found accelerant. Ames spokeswoman Clare Bills called it an apparent death by own action attempt.

Iowa students protest Gore oil ties outside party HQ
About 40 college students from Grinnell Drake Iowa and Simpson protested outside the Iowa Democratic Party headquarters chanting No Blood for Oil. They criticized Al Gore for family ties to Occidental Petroleum and urged him to sell stock held by his mother in a blind trust worth up to 500000. Police allowed the demonstration with no arrests.
