Linn County OKs 250K to help Prospect Meadows debt

Linn County supervisors approved a 250000 dollar pledge to Prospect Meadows if it raises funds to pay off the rest of its debt within four months. Cedar Rapids aims to advance 300000 under an existing hotel tax deal, with council approval pending, to reduce the debt on Prospect Meadows near Marion.

Water main break kills 1250 fish in Cedar Rapids

Cedar Rapids fish kill tops 1,250 as a broken water main released chlorinated drinking water into McLoud Run. The DNR and city staff found stressed fish and dechlorination was used. two-thirds were white suckers, about 30 percent trout, rest minnows and chubs. The incident follows prior breakages and recent trout stocking in the urban stream.
