At 3 12 p m Friday a Milwaukee railroad bridge at Ninth avenue and First street SE triggered a still alarm after eight minutes with slight damage noted.

Ed Fane and Norman Taylor Court Fine Survive Overload Case

Ed Fane, 57, at large, sentenced to 36 days in the county jail for toxication. Norman Taylor fined $10 plus costs for overloading, with the fine suspended on payment of costs and application for an additional license. Both appear in Justice H C Churchill’s court.

Milo Hanzlik Named Marak Steffer Trustee

Milo Hanzlik was elected trustee of the Marak Steffer Implement company at the first meeting of creditors held Saturday morning in the federal court room. A preliminary schedule listed assets around 138 185 while liabilities total 175 000. Books have not been kept since April 30 and much property is replevied under chattel mortgages by International Harvester. Referee Michael W. O Rieley presided and continued the hearing to 9 a m September 39 in the referee's office.

Girl Struck by Car While Crossing Street

Fourteen year old Carlene May Gallagher daughter of Mrs Geraldine Gallagher of 800 F avenue NW suffered facial and body cuts bruises a head wound and two broken teeth after running into F avenue between Eighth and Ninth streets NW and being hit by Robert Pollock 25 of 700 Eighth street SE. She was treated at Mercy hospital then dismissed. Pollock stated he could not avoid her and was not held by police.

More Education Needed Says Dean Edmonson

Dean J B Edmonson of the University of Michigan told 600 educators at the Franklin school that more education is needed not less. He argued that schooling beyond the eighth or ninth grade reduces crime, breaks class barriers, and meets a complex world’s demands, while noting shifts toward cooperative instruction and away from rigid discipline.
