Phone plant scheduled for phasing out
INDIANAPOLIS AP The Western Electric Co said Tuesday it will phase out its Indianapolis phone plant by 1986 as part of an economy drive. Built in 1949, the plant makes Trimline Touch-A Matic Design Line sets and modular components with 3700 employees. Manufacturing duties will move to other Western Electric plants nationwide.
