Marion loses bid for sewer funds
Marion failed to secure a 300000 federal grant for the Fifth Avenue sanitary sewer reconstruction. Community Development Director Jeff Schott cited Iowa's 350 grant applications and 79 awards, saying Marion's sound finances influenced the denial. City Manager Carl Ramey warned the project could proceed in phases if other funding is not found. The council also approved a 19655 contract with Van Note Construction Co. for a Thomas Park shop addition, bid about 2500 below estimate.
