Mabel a mid 60s Cedar Rapids resident without a lawyer faced a judge after stealing a 98 cent box of Jello and three pairs of panty hose totaling about 6.87. She expressed fear guilt and sought forgiveness clutching a pocket Bible as she described the act as out of character.
Ottumwa Mayor Jerry Parker said there was no cover up after a Wapello County grand jury returned no indictments against three men who confessed to beating five Saudi Arabian employees of Saudia Airlines.
