Davis Upright in Kirkwood School Board Victory
Alice Davis of 1236 Fifth Street NW won an upset over incumbent John Gerber in the Kirkwood Community College board race. Davis carried 456 votes to Gerber 428 in unofficial returns with 12 Cedar Rapids precincts voting. Davis becomes the first woman elected to the board. Gerber had served since 1966.
