Iowa EPA Iowa DNR reach stricter confinement farm plan
The EPA and Iowa DNR announced a Clean Water Act work plan to strengthen inspections permits and enforcement for confinement operations. On site inspections will target large farms with over 1000 cows or 2500 hogs, with other medium farms reviewed for compliance. The pact follows a 2007 petition and aims to boost documentation and penalties for pollution while preserving pork industry progress.
