Unofficial results show contested races in the C R Area School elections with multiple candidates on the ballot. Kirkwood Community College involvement or attendance noted in coverage.
In Kirkwood, two incumbents lost and three seats were filled. Robert Davidson defeated Hugh Stumbo 1050 to 643, Stephen Anderson beat Morris Allen 859 to 677, and Ernest Kellems topped George Foerstner 555 to 507. Totals are unofficial. Andersen co-owns Bezdek's Florists. Kellems works for Iowa State Bank.
Roger Curl won the rural director seat in Lisbon Community School district with 63 votes to Billie Rimrodt's 52 while incumbent Diane Wilkinson had 110. A conflict arose because Curl's wife Janice, a part time teacher's aide, would have to resign before his swearing in, prompting Curl to consider declining to protect the community.
Virginia Folkers won a three candidate race for two three year terms with 394 votes while incumbent Bill Huntoon earned 373 and Jim Bencke 273. Thomas Wright captured the unexpired two year term 270 to 262 over Thomas Osborn. Levy renewal passed 432 to 132. Canvass by Linn County Supervisors awaits.
Andy Anderson wins 468 votes and Margaret Wogahn 357 to claim three year terms in Linn-Mar Community school board race. Incumbents Botkin and Scheie did not run. Voters also renew a schoolhouse levy 67.5 cents per $1000 for 10 years by 591 to 68.
Fayette voters approved joining with North Fayette by 414 to 351 while North Fayette cast 773 for the merger. The decision ends a 24 year dispute that split the community after a previous rejection by 34 votes last November.
