Jury convicts accountant in multi state wire fraud scheme
Margo Ann Williams 62 of Scranton Pennsylvania was found guilty by a federal jury in Iowa of bank fraud money laundering and related offenses for laundering over 800000 from a multistate business email compromise. The scheme disrupted payments to St Ludmila Catholic Church Cedar Rapids and four other victims between December 2022 and July 2023. Williams controlled the accounts used to receive and move funds including transfers to two cryptocurrency exchanges. Sentencing pending with potential up to 140 years in prison.
