Cedar Rapids School Vote Totals Hit 1968 Low
In Cedar Rapids the public measure for treasurer was defeated 1961 to 1536. Precincts near city hall Covington and Palo showed strongest opposition while Grant Wood elementary saw the highest turnout at 300 and Bertram the lowest with 21. Rainy weather and a low key campaign blamed for the drop from 8,163 voters last year to this year’s decline. Otto Wiedersberg notes it was a close race for two candidates. The overall 1970 turnout was even higher with a Kirkwood bond issue.
