Fate of Spangler Hangs on Governor
One party spokesman notes possible friction between Milroy and the governor, a factor not verified. Milroy resigned as state chairman to avoid politics, unlikely to seek the post. Spangler has faced criticism as “too conservative” linked to Hoover era, with calls for his retirement from A M Piper and Don L Berry, though Berry defends his loyalty and service. Voters fear Spangler backs old policies to escape the 1929 mood in 1941.
