LaSalle Edges West In Heat Fight 18-13
LaSalle, led by junior quarterback Dwayne Schulte, held off Iowa City West 18-13 in a Friday night clash between Class 4-A West and 3-A LaSalle. Schulte passed for 84 yards in the first half and ran for 51 yards as LaSalle controlled the clock. West scored first on Jeff Forbes’s 33-yard run, then LaSalle answered with a 29-yard TD pass from Schulte to John Duggen. The Spartans led 12-7 at halftime, then Greg Mahoney recovered a fumble in the end zone for LaSalle’s margin. West closed the gap in the fourth on a Ken Hebb rushing TD after a bad snap on a punt.
