Winners Named in Duplicate Bridge

The Cedar Rapids Duplicate Bridge club met Tuesday night at the Roosevelt hotel. North and south winners were Mrs. Ray Gorman and Mrs. E. H. Pieper, first. Mrs. J. P. Galway and Mrs. H. T. Yarowsky tied with R. O. Gjertson of Marion and A. A. Dargis of Hiawatha, second. and Mrs. R. W. Water and Mrs. Sidney G. Blencoe, third. George Alberts and G. R. High were first east and west, Dr. C. A. Stout and Norman Severson second, Mrs. C. E. Kenna of Manchester and Mrs. Al Kornish of Sigourney third, and Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Montross of Millersburg fourth.

54 Contestants Parade To Open Beauty Pageant

Atlantic City hosts the 1960 Miss America pageant opening with 54 contestants on the boardwalk parade backed by 150,000 spectators and a TV audience. Miss America Mary Ann Mobley in attendance leads the motorcade alongside Parade Grand Marshal Cliff Arquette. One car failure for Miss Hawaii’s float prompted volunteers and crowd support as the procession continued.

Kay Maxwell and Keith White Wed in Atlantic Baptist Church

Kay Maxwell daughter of the Harold Maxwells of Kalona and Keith White son of the Carl Whites of Keota exchanged wedding vows Saturday at 10 in the Atlantic Baptist church officiated by Rev. Ray Heckert. Linda Dominacki of St. Joseph Mo was maid of honor and James Maxwell was best man. A reception was held at the bride’s grandmother’s home, Mrs. Glen Porch, in Atlantic. Mr. White works for Ke-Wash Fertilizer Co. in Keota. The couple left for a wedding trip through the Southwest.

Miss Donna Mae Woods daughter of Donald Woods and Lynn Babcock son of the Otis Babcocks were married Saturday at 7 30 at the Olin Methodist church. Miss Phyllis Woods Cedar Rapids sister was maid of honor and Noel Koranda Oxford Junction best man. The home of the bride's parents hosted 24 guests. After a wedding trip to Wisconsin Dells the couple will reside in Cedar Rapids where the bridegroom is with Cedar Rapids Auto Supply and the bride with Merchants National Bank. Mrs Babcock is a graduate of Cedar Rapids Business College.
