Cedar Rapids merges two schools into one at Taft and Wilson
In Cedar Rapids district mergers, Truman Elementary and Grant Elementary were closed and absorbed into Taft Middle School and Wilson Middle School. The reorganization created K-5 elementary, 6-8 middle, and 9-12 high schools to address declining enrollments from 25,000 in the early 1970s to 17,000 today.
