Wheat Talks at Low Key
Washington officials say international efforts to halt a wheat price war and stabilize prices may stay low-key for a while. Working level meetings by international technicians, like a recent three day session, will likely continue from time to time while a high level summit with power to commit governments is likely in the near term but not imminent.

Food aid plan for the poor deemed ineffective
A UPI report cites Egbert and Hiemstra arguing that giving food buying money to the poor would not raise overall food demand enough to boost farm prices. They note limited surplus demand, need for idle cropland, and show that even large aid increases would barely tip consumption toward adequate standards.
