Suburban wildlife note explains that dry springs and summers boost cottontail rabbit populations. Females nest in shallow fur lined holes near lawns and fields. Predators threaten the kits, while weekly heavy rain reduces numbers that fall. Garden fencing helps deter rabbits from bean plants.

Runners and walkers are invited to join the third annual Spartan Fund Run on September 17 at Solon High School. The race offers half mile, one mile, and 5K courses with entry fees supporting Solon Community School classrooms. Race day signups and forms distributed locally and online.
