UNI Paralympic swimmer wins first medals in Paris

Johnson County fires executive director Morales after review
Johnson County Board of Supervisors voted to terminate Executive Director Guillermo Morales after a special meeting to discuss his performance. Chair Rod Sullivan said Morales was disrespectful, while two supervisors dissented, urging a performance improvement plan instead. Morales, hired March 2028, earned 118,242 dollars annually plus a 3,000 retention bonus.

Former UI employee took 943k via private firm work
Former University of Iowa employee Brian Busch improperly earned 943,634.97 from contracting for services to his own company D8Signtech using university equipment from 2017 to 2021. He was placed on paid leave in 2021 and terminated in August after a three year probe. State Auditor Rob Sand filed the report and urged law enforcement action.
