Yippies struggle to survive a changed era in New York
In a chaotic East Village basement, YIP organizers led by Dana Beal host a stalled meeting as 12 people debate strategy. The group, once a national force, now faces money, media gaps, and waning influence with Hoffman and Rubin sidelined. Beal cites chapters in Vancouver and Milwaukee and notes ongoing protests for marijuana reform and anti Nixon actions. The scene captures a faltering movement clinging to past notoriety while seeking focus, funds, and future actions.
