Judge Denies Joss New Trial Motion
Federal Judge Edward J. McManus denied Charles F. Joss of Cedar Rapids a new trial after his July conviction for giving a false statement to purchase a firearm. McManus ruled that newly discovered evidence attacking a witness’s credibility is insufficient for a new trial. Joss remains free on bond with no sentencing date set.
