Kenneth R Chiverton 1840 Cave Nebraska died Sunday evening of a heart attack. Born in Oregon Wisconsin he lived much of his life in Cedar Rapids working for Iowa National Mutual Insurance Co. Survived by wife Gladyce and brother Louis B Chiverton both of Cedar Rapids. Services at St Matthew's Church Wednesday 9 am with burial at Mt Calvary. Rosary recited Tuesday at the funeral home.
Emil Albert Englebretson longtime North English and Marengo resident died in Kansas City while returning home from Cedar Rapids. Survived by son Gordon Englebretson of San Leandro two daughters Wanda Cook of Des Moines and Betty Harris of Oakland a sister Minnie Bragstad of Milwaukee a brother James Englebretson of Greenwood Wis and 12 grandchildren. Rita Grady Ask a Cedar Rapids resident for much of her life died Sunday at St. Joseph's hospital Ottumwa after a lingering illness. Born February 21 1896 in Parnell she leaves two sons Francis and John of Cedar Rapids and a sister Sister Mary Raphael of Ottumwa. Services set for Tuesday at 9 am at St Michael's Church Holbrook. Burial arrangements at McSwiggin and Uthmann Funeral Home Williamsburg.
Anna Warner Landa born in Czechoslovakia on December 31 1888 died Monday after a sudden illness in Cedar Rapids. She came to Cedar Rapids in 1913 and is survived by her husband Joseph Landa a daughter Mrs Theodore Trefny and sister Mrs Josephine Kindl. She was a member of Lodges Prokop Vesky No 137 CSA and Pomnenka Viasti No 91 JCD. Services are set at Janeba funeral home on Wednesday at a time to be announced.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Tuesday. The burial is to be announced later and concerns the Czech National.
Anton Sykora aged 72 died after a short illness. Born in Czechoslovakia May 18, 1888 he came to the United States in 1904 and worked for the city until retirement. Survived by children Joseph Valenta Cedar Falls. Mrs Charles Stewart Cedar Rapids. Anton Jr Cedar Rapids. George in Germany. 10 grandchildren. a brother Joseph Cedar Rapids. a sister in Czechoslovakia. Funeral at Kuba services to be announced.
Wencl J Mach 75 of 1015 Eighth St S E died at a local hospital after a long illness. Born in Czechoslovakia September 28 1885 he lived in Cedar Rapids since 1890. Survived by two daughters two sons a brother and a stepbrother five grandchildren and members of The Cadets of St George 45 Catholic Workman and St Wenceslaus church. Friends may call after 1 p m Tuesday.
Jerry J. Stodola 49 of 2701 Seeley Ave SE Cedar Rapids died in a Cedar Rapids hospital early Monday after a brief illness. Born August 4, 1911 he lived in Cedar Rapids all his life and worked as a meat cutter for Stu sak and Co. Survived by his wife Ann Blazek married May 15, 1935, and by his mother Mrs. Vincent Stodola of Mt. Vernon a brother Fred Stodola of Cedar Rapids three sisters Mrs. Bessie Vodicka Mt. Vernon Mrs. Donald Stransky Cedar Rapids and Mrs. William Barnes Iowa City. Calling hours after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.
