FBI briefed White House on spy probe two years ago
The FBI told senior White House officials early in the Bush administration about an inquiry into whether a major pro Israel lobbying group supplied U S intelligence to Israel. Condoleezza Rice and Stephen Hadley were informed soon after 2001. Investigators focused on Pentagon analyst Larry Franklin and possible transfer of a classified directive to AIPAC. No charges yet. probe may go before a federal grand jury in Alexandria Virginia. Israel and AIPAC deny wrongdoing. a separate angle involves alleged information sharing with Ahmad Chalabi.
