Insurance gaps show uninsured women less likely to be covered
A study finds about 20 percent of uninsured women could buy employer based insurance but do not. It also reports 15 percent of uninsured men lack coverage and that older married women 55 to 65 are nearly 40 percent more likely to be uninsured than similarly aged men. The gap stems from wives losing coverage when husbands retire and cannot join Medicare. The Commonwealth Fund, a New York foundation, funds health care research and grants.

Smithsonian to host McDonalds and two others at Air and Space Museum
The National Air and Space Museum will close its cafeteria to install McDonalds Boston Market and Donatos Pizza under a 10 year deal. The 1 000 seat operation could be the busiest daytime McDonalds in the U.S. opening next spring. The museum will spend 3.2 million dollars to prepare the space with about 10 percent public funds. Critics say the move commercializes the Smithsonian’s educational mission.
