Pay increase for Cedar Rapids council clears first hurdle

Cedar Rapids City Council gave unanimous initial approval to an ordinance amendment raising mayor and council salaries. If passes two more readings, the mayor would earn 36055? no, 36,155.20 in 1982 and 39,047.62 in 1983 while a councilman would rise to 32,446.97 in 1982 and 35,042.73 in 1983, matching other city employee raises.
