Police found over 100 dollars in quarters and 96 dollars in his car, and noted lock picking tools on him. A preliminary hearing was postponed. a late November date was set to be fixed in October.

Young Men Given Probation By Linn Court
John D. Northrup aged 22 and Dennis L. Doerflinger aged 18 received suspended sentences in Linn district court after guilty pleas on criminal charges. Northrup got six months in county jail for possession of methamphetamine following a May 22 service-station arrest by Marion police. Doerflinger received one year in the Anamosa reformatory for operating a motor vehicle without the owner's consent and five years for larceny after allegedly taking a Cedar Rapids man’s car on July 21 and stealing $22 in a June 18 Cedar Rapids break-in at a woman’s residence. Both men were placed on probation.

Factory Workers Overcome by Ammonia Fumes
