The Board of Regents will review a purchase of the remaining 45 percent of the Town Center mall space, including restaurants and a CVS, for 20.6 million dollars. The deal extends closing to October 1, 2027 with a 10 percent down payment due at approval and 90 percent at transfer. The university already owns 55 percent and plans to retain a retail presence to offset costs.

Iowa City authorities charged Kenneth Michael Davis 43 after surveillance footage showed him lighting an air conditioning unit behind DC's Sports Bar. Meanwhile a 15 year old boy died after being crushed by a skid loader on a rural Marion farm. Logan Paul of Ryan was trapped between the machine and its spear attachment during hay bale moving. Amendments Receive Mostly Bipartisan Support Face Pushback

Lawmakers weigh two proposed Iowa constitutional amendments about line of succession and voting rights for noncitizens. Support remains largely bipartisan, with Republicans raising concerns about a governor named by one person and Democrats backing the measures. Opponents warn of unintended consequences while advocates argue for citizen voting and clarity on who may vote in local elections. The process requires consecutive legislative passages and voter approval.
