University to buy remaining Town Center stake near Pentacrest
University of Iowa seeks to acquire the remaining 45 percent of the Old Capitol Town Center for 20.6 million dollars. The 375000 square foot building, opened in 1981 as a downtown mall anchored by Younkers and JCPenney, sits south of the Pentacrest and would extend the universitys retail presence. The university already owns half the building, mainly the second floor known as University Capitol Centre, used for admin offices and student services.
