Moderate Growth In Iowa Economy

Iowa's economy showed normal seasonal patterns with moderate growth in September. Non agricultural wage and salary employment rose 2.3 percent year over year, manufacturing up 23.3 percent, new manufacturing hires up 0.6 percent and layoffs down to 0.7 percent. Overall employment reached 1,278,000, up 32,000 from 1,245,800 a year earlier, while unemployment fell to 50,400 from 62,500. The seasonally adjusted jobless rate stood at 5 percent, with August at 5.1 percent and the unadjusted rate at 4.3 percent.

Ford Tops All-Time TV Spending
