Iowa Supreme Court keeps abortion waiting period on hold

Iowa justices extended a temporary injunction delaying the three day waiting period law for abortion. The court will hear an appeal of Polk County judge Jeffrey Farrell's decision upholding SF 471, which includes ultrasound and baby description provisions and a 20 week ban not at issue in the suit.

Cedar Rapids to discuss 2.3M tax break for logistics firm

Cedar Rapids officials vote to back a 50 percent 10 year tax rebate for Midwest Third Party Logistics, a $30 million warehouse project at 4645 20th Ave SW, despite past crimes by president Rick Stickle. The council opted to create an urban renewal area to use tax increment financing and 800,000 square feet of planned space with at least 25 jobs.
