Old cars fuel lifelong passion of 82 year old Leonard Newport
Leonard Newport, 82, pursues car restoration after retiring from flowers business started by his father in 1898. He owns eight restored cars in two buildings beside his Cedar Rapids property and displays at Westdale Mall. His pride is a 1919 Cadillac, parts sourced from West Virginia, plus a 1926 Hudson shown at the Cedar Rapids Antique Auto Club event. He plans to keep all cars for tax reasons and continues to collect, restore, and parade his fleet with help from his sons Jerry Dale and Karl and their wives. He drives a new Buick to get around while his hobby stays his main pursuit.
