Wapsie Catfish Hold Up In River Survey
Iowa fish biologists chart catfish in the Wapsie River from Central City to near the Linn Jones line. Most common size is nine to ten inches with 12 inch three year olds, and fish up to 24 and a quarter inches. Heavy rains and habitat loss push fish to new holes while anglers seek them. The Mississippi bass study tags hundreds of largemouths to gauge growth and survival with anglers urged to report tagged fish.
